Gujarati

Gujarati is a modern Indo-Aryan language evolved from Sanskrit. It is the 26th most wide spoken native language with 65.5 million speakers worldwide. Old Gujarati is the ancestral language of modern Guajarati. There are people who speak the language in Uganda, Tanzania, Karachi, Mauritius, New York, London Birmingham and also Canada. Gujarati is the state language of the State of Gujarat and is one of the twenty-two official languages and fourteen regional languages of India. It was the first language of prominent personalities like Mohandas Gandhi, Sardar Patel, J.R.D.Tata, Dhirubhai Ambani, Morarji Desai, Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati and Muhammad Ali Jinnah.  Gujarati is offered as a GCSE subject for students in the UK.
